Diploma in Operation Theatre (D.OT) prepares students for the overall work and management concerning the operation theatre. An OT Technician’s work includes managing the patients as well as taking care of the ins and outs of the operation process.

Some other duties of the technician include the following:

• Looking after all the surgical instruments and their sterilization
• Management of the staff
• Arranging operation theatre table, dressing table, instrument table, anesthesia table
• Looking after the drugs required for surgery, anesthetic gases, drapes and all the linen as well as their sterilization
• Assisting the surgeon during the operations

In short, an operation theatre technician has to manage and organize whole of the operation theatre. Without the qualified assistance of an OT Technician, neither can a surgeon operate on patients nor can a hospital and nursing home run efficiently.

ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA:

The basic eligibility criteria for pursuing Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology is qualifying 10+2 or equivalent examination in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Mathematics from a recognized board of the country.

ADMISSION PROCESS:

Admission is based on marks scored by candidates in board examination. Minimum aggregate marks required are 45%. (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates)

Duration: 2 Years, Affiliated to UP State Medical Faculty Lucknow.
